Sorry for the absence

Hello everyone...yes we are still alive and I’m sorry I haven’t blogged in over a week. It is the end of the quarter over here therefore we have both been very busy trying to get ready for finals week and tie up all the loose ends.

This past weekend Andrew went to an estimating competition in Dallas. He had a lot of fun and got a lot of great experience but came home yesterday very tired (they had to stay up and work on a bid from 6am – 10pm and for those of you that know Andrew well understand that the 6am wakeup call was very difficult for him). While Andrew was in Dallas I went home to see my Aunt and Uncle from Houston and my Cousin from Washington State.  It was really good to see everyone and have some family time.  While I was home my Mom, Granny, Aunt Pauline and I went to try on wedding dresses for the first time.  It was so fun and I found a dress that I LOVE and could be the one!!! No worries though because there is no way this shopper is going to stop trying on dresses, I mean how often do you get to try on huge, white dress?!

Well I hope everyone had a good weekend and Mardi Gras! I will be posting some pictures from the proposal soon, I promise I haven’t forgotten!

Happy Valentines Day

Today was our first valentine’s day as an engaged couple. We kept it pretty laid back and low key because we knew all the restaurants in Ruston was going to be swamped today. Andrew went to the store today while I was babysitting and picked up some steaks and asparagus to throw on the grill. It was DELCIOUS but you can tell that Andrew purchased the meat due to its large size, just call us Fred and Wilma Flinstone. I made some pasta and a marsala wine sauce for the steak for my contribution and we ate some valentine candy from my students for dessert. Here’s a picture of our yummy dinner….everyone should be very jealous!

To some couples this might have not been their ideal night but for us it was perfect. We decided not to do gifts this year, even though Andrew broke the rules and bought me flowers, and just enjoy each other’s company.  We both agree that Valentine’s day can be kinda overrated at times and Andrew said something that made me smile, he said “I like Valentine’s day but I think it silly to have a holiday where you tell everyone you love them…Shouldn’t you do that every day?” We should tell all our loved ones how much they mean to us every day but we don’t; we get busy or sidetracked and time flies by. Valentine’s Day can be over rated but it’s a great time to take a minute and tell all our loved ones just how much they mean to us.  I wanted to end this post with our happy little family….and say HAPPY VALENTINES FROM THE ENAGED COUPLE!

We love all our family and friends and thanks for reading our blog.  We hope everyone had a terffic Valentine’s Day that was full of love. xoxo

We're having a wedding!

Well, Andrew and I have some very exciting news…WE SET THE DATE. We will be getting married in Ruston, Louisiana on March 23, 2013.  We will be having the ceremony at The Bridge Northside (Christ Community) and have some ideas of where we want to have the reception but have not made any final decisions.
I was supposed to babysit today and ended up not being needed therefore Andrew and I took the opportunity to run some errands. We went to lunch with his mom for her birthday (she turned the big 50 on Sunday) then he went to apply for some summer internships. We went to pick up a shower present for Reece and Jodie’s shower this weekend and it really got us in the wedding spirit. We have been talking about a wedding date ever since we got engaged and even a little before but knew we needed to check with the church first.  On the way home we were passing Christ Community and decided to turn in and check to see if anyone was in the office and lucky for us there was. We walked in and told them that we were newly engaged and wanted to reserve the church for the wedding day. They asked what date we were looking at and when we said March 23 they looked at us like we were crazy. Andrew then finished the date with 2013 and everyone was relieved. Lucky for us the date was available! They said they don’t even have a 2013 calendar yet but when they get one I will be the first date added! I am so excited and it has really made it a reality that WE ARE GETTING MARRIED! I wanted to end the post with some pictures of our church because it is so beautiful! I couldn't find a good picture of the front so I will take one on Sunday and post it next week.

I love the exposed beams!

I love this lighting this is how Andrew and I want the church lit the night of the wedding with lots of candles! Notice the stone wall and large cross...sooo pretty!

I just wanted to stop in and say that our pictures from the engagment night are in! They are super cute and I love all of them. It was so fun to sit in bed and look at all of them with Andrew. There will be a picture overload post in the near future so prepare yourself.

xoxo and hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!

We have a date....ALMOST

I have some exciting news....I think we set a date! Yay!! We are going to check with the church to make sure that it is available but if they give us the green light then it's set. I will post the date on the blog as soon as we have hammered out all the detials but I am very excited to even have a tentative date!  On another note I am getting very anxious to see the pictures from the proposal. I am so excited to look through them and relive that moment.  Here is one of my favorite pictures from that night...

weekend recap...

Ok….Good news I am finally starting to feel better. I have been going to bed really early and trying to get a lot of rest and I think it has finally paid off.  I’m still not a 100% but way better than I was which I am so thankful for.

This weekend was a very good weekend. Friday I went home and hung out with my best friend Amanda. I felt like it was high school all over again, but in a good way.  First we dyed her hair which was really fun/funny at the same time and looked at wedding magazines.  It was the first time I have really sat down and looked at magazines and talked about the things I like and don’t like in dresses.  It started to set in that I’M GETTING MARRIED and I started to get really excited to go try on dresses!!

Saturday I came back to Ruston to attend a wedding with Andrew. It is our first wedding as an engaged couple which was really fun and eye opening. When you’re engaged and getting ready to plan your wedding it is so funny the things you notice that you have never noticed at weddings before. It made me laugh because things that I never thought Andrew would notice he was commenting on. It was fun to talk about the things we liked and the things we would do differently to fit our personalities better. I am so glad he wants to be very involved and I can’t wait to start the planning process together!

Here's the happy couple at our first wedding as an engaged couple!!
