My Own Utopia

I was so looking forward yesterday and it did not disappointed! Andrew and I got to meet with Mr. John, out caterer and hash out some details on food which was a blast and I will blog about in a later post but what I was really looking forward to was registering at the Townsend House!!!
The Townsend House is the cutest old house, turned gift shop in Ruston. Some people don't understand what I see in this little shop but I don't understand what it not to love: it has everything you would ever need to make a stylish kitchen/home, it is about as southern as you can get, and the staff is FABULOUS!  I feel in love with this little shop my freshman year. It was the fall and Andrew and I had just gotten together when he took me by the Townsend House.  Every year the whole front, back, and side yard turn into a pumpkin patch and it  is just the cutest thing EVER!  It has become a tradition between Andrew and I to go pick out a pumpkin at the patch and carve it every year.

The day I got engaged I actually went to the Townsend House to help one of my friend's Susan register.  It was no secret that Andrew and I were talking about marriage and when Mrs. Kim asked if it was coming anytime soon I responded with, "No it is way to early we have at least four more months." Little did I know that I was getting engaged that evening!

As soon as I got engaged I knew that one of the highlights was going to be finally getting to register at my own little slice of heave, The Townsend House.  I have been registering in my mind for months and went through a phase where I went into the store about once a week to drag out all my dishes, glasses, napkins, etc. just to make sure I was still in love.  I love the fact that I could make a huge mess, that I usually cleaned up and no one got mad.

Yesterday, was when I got to stop registering in my mind and finally write everything down and make it official!  We registered for all my "bones" as Mrs. Kim would say and IT WAS SO FUN!!!!   She really made the experience unforgettable and I am so grateful.

Towards the end of the appointment I started to get really sad because I didn't want to be finished but the best part is I get to go back in September and add more Tech Stuff and Mrs. Kim suggested before showers I come add a few more things that are in store at the time...so the fun isn't over, it is just beginning!

Here a picture of me with a lot of my things. Can't wait to have everyone over and serve dinner!

If you want to take a look at the Townsend House website click here a take a peak at everything they have!

Happy Hump Day!

Out of all these books you don't like one....

Andrew, my Mom, and I have been very productive in the wedding planning the last few weeks. We have gotten to cross a lot of thins of the wedding to-do list which feels great but the best part is we have been having a blast!  To me planning a wedding is so much fun and I am love almost every minute.

Yesterday, I had to go to Shreveport to go to the doctor and while I was there Mom and I went to look for invitations.  After getting engaged mom suggest we looked at City Printing in Shreveport first because she knew the Norwoods (my Poppy and Granny used to go to lunch every Friday with the Norwoods). One thing Andrew and I have really tried to do is go local and use only vendors we know and the invitations are no different.

When you walk into City Printing they have a whole room designated just for Wedding Invitations. They have a TON of books and all kinds of invitations but I had a very distinct style that I knew I wanted.  For those of you that know me well know I can be pretty picky especially if I have something in my mind that I know I want. In my first bridal magazine my Cousins and Aunt Harriett gave me I found THE invitations. They were Vera Wang therefore way out of my budget but I loved them.  I have been carrying that picture around with me since that day and knew I wanted to find something as similar as possible. After looking through every book and not finding anything I was crazy about mom inquired about how much it would be to have custom designed invitations.  I thought she was crazy because I was sure it was going to cost an arm and a leg but surprisingly they were very affordable and under budget! We will go back in September to sit down a lay everything out and place the order.

I am so excited to get to design my own innovations and know they will be exactly what I was looking for.  I believe the invitations really set the mood and tone for the whole event and can't wait to make mine perfect!

Thanks mom for all your patience and helping me look at hundreds of invites just to decide none of them looked like me.  I love you and Andrew loves you even more because he didn't have to look at all the invitation books.  We are lucky to have you.

Today we are getting to meet with our caterer and register at The Townsend house (my own little utopia).  Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday and I will be back tomorrow with an update on our adventures.

Hotel Rooms...Check

Today has been a very productive day and I have gotten to cross quite a few things off my "Wedding To Do" List.  I have said before that I am a list maker; it helps me stay organized and I feel so accomplished when I get to cross something off. Anyway, this morning I woke up and went to get my eyebrows waxed then had some time to kill before I had to be at babysitting so I decided to tackle a few wedding things.

First, I went to Terzia's to check out their candelabras. I knew I wanted to have some candelabras at the alter during the ceremony but finding some I like that don't look cheep can be pretty tricky. When I walked into Terzia's everyone was super friendly and helpful.  They let me drag around the different candelabras to see which ones I liked together and wrote down the prices for everything. I was very impressed not only on their selection but also their wiliness to help!  I also got the information on renting a tent, which we are not going to have to do because it is NOT going to rain!

Next, I went to the Hampton Inn to set up a block of rooms for everyone.  We blocked a total of 40 rooms with 20 with the choice of a room with one king bed or a room with two queen beds. Everyone has to book their room by February 1st to get the discounted rate which is 89 dollars a night.  All the information on the hotel is listed in the Wedding Details Tab to the right of this post.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far.

Let me BLEEP it....

Today was a very exciting day! Me, my mom and Andrew all went to register at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for the wedding! It is the first place we have registered at thus far and is the only chain we are registering at and let me just say we had a BLAST!

Andrew was in charge of the scanner which is kinda scary but he did a great job! Everything we picked out he would respond with "Let me bleep it" because the scanner made this strange noise.  He looked like a little kid in a candy store getting to use the gun and it made me giggle so much.

Andrew registering for out Margarita Machine!
We had so much fun picking out all the different things for our new home.  We registered for everything from pots and pans to bathroom washcloths to margarita machines.  We are hoping to register at a gift shop here in Ruston together this week too.

We wanted to give a special thanks to my mom for helping us out today.  She helped us do everything from decided how many cups we needed our rice cooker to hold, to what was a good brand for pots, knives, and small appliances. She also helped me so much when picking out and scanning all the bedding after Andrew had approved.  I loved having two of my favorite people with me all day. We love you Mom!

Hope everyone had a great weekend filled with family!
